The international Conference organized by l'Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) took place from 6 to 8 June 2016 at the Académie Diplomatique Internationale (ADI) of Paris. This major event was attended by more than 250 participants from the majority of the 80 members and observers of the Francophonie, as well as by representatives of international organizations and regional partners.

IPDC opens new project submission cycleThe International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC) accepts now new media development project proposals. As a first step, interested media organizations will have until 4 July to present project ideas to the Programme. If validated, they will be requested to submit complete project forms before 30 September 2016.

The Second European Media and Information Literacy Forum (EU-MILINFO II) is organized by UNESCO, the European Commission, the Latvian government and the Sub-Chapter of the Global Alliance for Partnerships on Media and Information Literacy (GAPMIL), under the theme "Media and Information Literacy In Europe: Citizens' Critical Competencies for a Rights-Based, Transparent, Open, Secure and Inclusive Information Environment". It will take place from 27 to 29 June 2016, in Riga, Latvia.

The National University of Mar del Plata will host the UNESCO MOWLAC 2016 Annual MeetingThe MOWLAC (Memory of the World Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Committee) of international experts will get together from the 24th to 26th October 2016 in the Argentinean costal town Mar de Plata where they will discuss the priorities of the post-2015 documentary heritage for Latin America and the Caribbean. This year the discussion will be within the framework of the new 2030 Agenda of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The sixth annual global celebration of Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week will take place from 31 October to 5 November, 2016, under the theme "Media and Information Literacy: New Paradigms for Intercultural Dialogue". The Global MIL Week 2016 feature event includes the Sixth Media and Information Literacy and Intercultural Dialogue (MILID) Conference and the First General Assembly of the Global Alliance for Partnerships on Media and Information Literacy (GAPMIL). The feature event is hosted by the University of São Paulo, Brazil, and will take place from 2 to 5 November, 2016.

The 9th IFAP Council meeting successfully concluded its workOn 30 May 2016, the ninth session of the Intergovernmental Council for the Information for All Programme (IFAP) was opened at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The two-day meeting brought together representatives of the 26 Member States elected to the Council by UNESCO's General Conference at its last session in November 2015, as well as observers from Member States, intergovernmental bodies and non-governmental organizations having official status with UNESCO.
