ALOK SHARMA President of the COP 26 to give Paris Speech at UNESCO headquarters

 

 

Time: Tuesday 12th October 2021, from 10.45-12.00 CET

 

 

Alok Sharma, the President of the COP 26 will deliver his pre-COP 'Paris Speech' at UNESCO head-quarters in Paris. UNESCO's Assistant Director-General for Science, Shamila Nair-Bedouelle and Laurent Fabius, President of the COP 21, will also speak.

 

The Paris Speech will be followed by a Press Conference. Seating for journalists is limited. For accreditation to attend the event please contact:

Before delivering his speech Mr. Sharma will meet with UNESCO Director-General, Audrey Azoulay to discuss the goals of the COP 26. UNESCO works through its Science, Culture and Education sectors to protect biodiversity and to promote Education for Sustainable Development. Earlier this year UNESCO called for the prominent positioning of Education for Sustainable Development in school curricula in every country in the world by 2030. A report published by UNESCO this summer, Learn for our planet found that currently climate change receives far too little mention in learning materials.
