Exhibition Revive the Spirit of Mosul - An Architectural Renaissance
On the sidelines of the Venice Architecture Biennale, UNESCO will showcase its work to rebuild the rich architectural heritage of Old Mosul in Iraq, as part of its flagship initiative 'Revive the Spirit of Mosul' launched by Audrey Azoulay in 2018. The exhibition, open to the public from 10 to 25 May in the Marciana National Library, will offer an immersive experience of the reconstruction work through models, photos and videos, and celebrate the city's legacy of religious and cultural diversity. The Director-General of UNESCO will inaugurate the exhibition on 9 May 2025.

Exhibition on visitor experience in UNESCO World Heritage sites
As part of the Venice Architecture Biennale, the Deep Surfaces exhibition will explore how visitor centres in over 50 UNESCO heritage sites around the world work to enrich and enhance visitors' understanding of the site's history and cultural significance. The exhibit will also showcase how the visitor centre at Hegra in AlUla, Saudi Arabia's first UNESCO World Heritage site, has woven cultural storytelling into the visitor experience.

The Director-General of UNESCO and the President of Côte d'Ivoire will co-chair the award ceremony of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny-UNESCO Peace Prize. The 2024 winner is António Luís Santos da Costa, President of the European Council and former Prime Minister of Portugal. The Prize, established in 1989, is awarded annually to individuals, institutions or organizations that have made a significant contribution to promoting, seeking, safeguarding or maintaining peace.
