About The Conference

The youth are the prime instigators in aiding the growth of any nation. The perceptions of youth in various discourses offer interesting scopes and analysis, especially in terms of their perception and reception in various cultures and disciplines. Various discursive practices, on and about the youth, are offered by literature written by and upon them. Although, it must be acknowledged that such perceptions about the youth continue to exist in discourses beyond fiction and any attempt at discussing and deliberating upon the said topic only aids in enhancing their global perspectives. The question of Gender exists as a central concern in the midst of such deliberations. The primary aim of this conference is to arrange a platform that brings together and amalgamates such perspectives. Gender sustains its importance as one of the foremost discussed concepts and still possesses much relevance in the modern contemporary world. Contemporary perspectives on Gender aim to challenge and dismantle unhealthy gender norms and stereotypes that limit individual expression and opportunities. The two-day conference, "Gender Narratives and Young Adult Discourses: A Contemporary Perspective", will provide an insight into the implications of gender narratives for gender expression and gender roles, and how they relate to the larger social, economic, cultural and political structures. Research findings and currently available information will be useful in illustrating how gender narratives are reflected in the broader society and how they inform individuals to create a more equitable and inclusive society.
