COVID-19: UNESCO Virtual knowledge-sharing workshop on distance education programmes using radio and television
Wed 27 May 2020 - 11h00-12h30 CET (Paris time)

Dear Colleagues,

I hope you are all fine.

In the context of massive school and university closures, many countries are trying to set up and provide distance education programmes using traditional media such as TV and radio, where online connectivity is not available or as additional delivery modalities. To support Member States in these efforts, a series of virtual workshops on developing audio-visual education programmes are organized in several languages (English, French and Spanish). These workshops are meant for education officials, audiovisual professionals (television and radio), as well as teachers and teacher trainers involved in the creation of educational content for audiovisual media. The first virtual workshop in French was held on 11 May 2020 with more than 500 participants.

The second virtual workshop in English, will be held on 27 May 2020 (11:00 – 12:30 CET), in collaboration with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), member of the UNESCO Global Coalition for Education on education responses to COVID-19. It will be led by experienced professionals from several regions of the world, involved in broadcasting audio-visual programmes and will focus on good practices on this topic.  The concept note is attached.

Please feel free to circulate among the education community and broadcasting services.

Those wishing to participate are encouraged to register online by 24 May 2020, by clicking here or at the top of the concept note and to participate via this link.

Thank you for your collaboration and I look forward to your participation.

Yours sincerely

Borhene
