FICCI, NPC & APO Symposium on Productivity Growth with Industry 4.0 Standardisation

13th March 2019 | FICCI, Federation House, New Delhi

National Productivity Council (NPC) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) in collaboration with Asian Productivity Organization (APO), Tokyo are organising a symposium on "Productivity Growth With Industry 4.0 Standardisation" on 13th March 2019 at Federation House, Tansen Marg, New Delhi. The objective of the symposium to develop an understanding of current standardization work for smart manufacturing, Industry 4.0, and the Industrial Internet of Things and the need for international coordination. The symposium shall discuss the case studies of three countries in the area of Industry 4.0 and Standardization namely, Japan, Germany & USA.
Standardization is crucial for the success of Industry 4.0 and has significant implications for all stakeholders in global supply chains. The workshop aims to:
1. To develop an understanding on the connection between advanced technologies and productivity growth and the implications of Industry 4.0 for industries and labor force;
2. To understand the current standardization work for smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0 and the strategies for developing, adopting, and harmonizing industrial standards;
3. To assist policy makers and local industries in developing strategies for standards harmonization to ensure connectivity and interoperability in the manufacturing value chain.

  • Fumihiko Kimura, Professor Emeritus, University of Tokyo, and Chairman of Action Group 1 (International Standardization), Robot Revolution and Industrial IoT Initiative (RRI), Japan
  • Max Ellerich, Head of Department Quality Intelligence, Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering WZL, RWTH Aachen University / Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT, Germany
  • Wael Diab, IIC Steering Committee Member and Secretary
