• 01.04.16 UNESCO contributes to another successful edition of ICEGOV The 9th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance was held in Montevideo, Uruguay from 1 to 3 March 2016. The conference was organized under the patronage of the Presidency of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay by the Agency for Electronic Government and Information Society (AGESIC) and the United Nations University's Special Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance (UNU-EGOV) in collaboration with UNESCO.

• 01.04.16 Privacy, accessibility and human rights on the agenda of RightsCon in San Francisco Rights, Openness, Accessibility and Multi-stakeholder participation for the Internet. The importance of these "ROAM" principles for the online world was the message of UNESCO's new Assistant Director General for Communication and Information this week.

• 31.03.16 IFAP supports more effective policy responses to SDGs On Monday 29th February,2016 an international Expert Group Meeting co-organized by the Agency for Electronic Government, Information and Knowledge Society (AGESIC), the United Nations Universities Special Operating Unit for Policy-driven Electronic Governance (UNU-EGOV) and UNESCO's intergovernmental Information for All Programme (IFAP) opened in Montevideo, Uruguay.

• 31.03.16 Journalists share their experiences of the dangers and threats in the field During the conference "News Organizations Standing Up for the Safety of Media Professionals", held on 5 February 2016, close to 300 media leaders and representatives of Member States from every region in the world gathered at UNESCO Headquarters.

• 31.03.16 25th IFAP Bureau Reviews Contributions to International and National Action Plans The twenty-fifth meeting of the Bureau of the Intergovernmental Council for the Information for All Programme (IFAP) was held in Paris on Friday 26th February. The event brought together Member States elected to the Bureau as well as observers from various Member State Permanent Delegations.

• 30.03.16 Director-General deplores killing of journalist Mohammed al-Yemeni The Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, today deplored the killing of journalist Mohammed al-Yemeni in the southwest of Yemen and urged all parties to be mindful of the safety of journalists.

• 30.03.16 Director-General condemns killing of broadcast journalist Nicolás Humberto García in El Salvador The Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, has denounced the killing of Nicolás Humberto García, a community radio director and journalist, in El Salvador.

• 30.03.16 Minister, delegates and experts address strategy on open educational resources in support of sustainable development goals The Minister of Education, Sciences and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Maja Makovec Brencic, today opened a meeting at UNESCO Headquarters of more than 50 leading experts and national delegates to develop strategies for and address challenges to Open Educational Resources (OER) in support of the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
