TISS Workshop on Qualitative Research 
12–15 APRIL 2015
Organised by Center for Health & Social Sciences, School of Health Systems Studies, TISS; Centre for Sexuality and Health Research and Policy (C-SHaRP), Chennai

Applications are invited to participate in a four-day Workshop on Qualitative Research at TISS, Mumbai.

Workshop objectives:
To build the capacity of MPhil/PhD scholars, independent researchers & early-career academicians on designing, conducting and reporting qualitative research in public health and social and behavioral sciences.

Workshop content:
Introduction to Qualitative Research (Theoretical Frameworks, Research Design & Sampling, Ethics)
Data Collection Methods (With a Focus on In-Depth Interviews, Focus Groups and Observation)
Data Analysis (Grounded Theory Analytic Techniques, Applied Thematic Analysis, Framework Analysis), and Use of Qualitative Software (Hands-On Crash Course)
Reporting Qualitative Research for Thesis and Publications

Registration Fees:
Rs. 1000 for of MPhil/PhD scholars; Rs. 2000 for academic faculty or independent researchers. Participants will be provided workshop materials, refreshments, lunch/ dinner and on-campus accommodation (twin-sharing) for 3 nights. Participants travel 

Eligibility and Application:
MPhil/PhD students, independent researchers and early career University faculty with a background in public health, health and development, gender and health, socio-behavioural sciences, are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to those who are already involved in qualitative research (i.e., their thesis or stud employs qualitative or mixed methods research). The number of participants for this workshop is restricted to 20. Applications should be sent by email with the following details: name, gender, university/college and department, name of guide (for doctoral students), topic and area of research, and other relevant information, including a short write-up (one paragraph) explaining why you would like to attend the workshop. Selected participants will be required to pay the registration fees before 2 April by Demand Draft in favour of "Tata Institute of Social Sciences" payable at Mumbai.
