Preamble
Peoples Council of Education in association with Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research shall hold Second Peoples Education Congress between October 05 and 08, 2009 at Mumbai with a view to discovering, developing and disseminating a new democratic system of science education reflecting democratic needs, aspirations and creative urges of people of India.

Focal Theme
The Peoples Council of Education has resolved to focus the deliberations of the Second Peoples Education Congress on ‘Science Education in India’.

Context
The deliberations of the First Peoples Education Congress on ‘Science Communication’, revealed very poor quality of science communication to children and students in schools, colleges and universities resulting in lower order of creativity in science and very high order of anti-science or unscientific mental dispositions in the country. Even majority of the science teachers and research scientists exhibited strong anti-science dispositions, attitudes and behaviour, although unconsciously. Peoples Council of Education, therefore, resolved to focus the deliberations of the Second Peoples Education Congress on ‘Science Education in India’.

Submission of Papers

Those who are engaged in science education in schools, colleges and universities or those who are involved in Science Communication or engaged in policy formulations are hereby cordially invited to submit their papers on any aspect of science education. Such scholars and activists from abroad, particularly from Afro-Asian and Latin American countries too will be welcomed provided that their papers are based on the concrete study of the science education in their own countries. Those who have innovated or discovered new methods and theories of science education or education within or outside the formal system of education shall be most welcome to present their discoveries/ innovations/ creations at the Second Peoples Education Congress.
The length of the full paper can be within 5000 and 7000 words or 15-20 typed pages on A4 size paper. Abstract of each paper should be written within 500 words. The Abstracts should highlight the newness of theories and methods. The paper can be written in Hindi or in English.Three copies of the full paper and its abstracts in triplicate along with its CD should be sent to the General Secretary, Peoples Council of Education.
The last date for submission of abstracts of papers is extended till July 31, 2009 and the last date for submission of full papers is extended till August 31, 2009.
